Frequently Asked Questions

At Private Care Therapies, we know that choosing the right care can come with questions. Whether you are exploring concierge physical therapy for yourself, a loved one, or a family member, our goal is to make the process feel clear, supportive, and personal.

Below, you’ll find answers to common questions about our services, care model, scheduling, telehealth options, and what to expect when working with our team.

Getting Started

What is Private Care Therapies?

Private Care Therapies is a concierge therapy and wellness practice offering personalized physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, personal training, and supportive wellness services. We provide one-on-one care in the setting that works best for each client, including the home, gym, workplace, or through telehealth when appropriate.

What does concierge physical therapy mean?

Concierge physical therapy means care is brought directly to you. Instead of traveling to a clinic, clients receive personalized, one-on-one support in a setting that feels convenient and comfortable. This allows therapy to be more private, flexible, and tailored to each client’s lifestyle, goals, and environment.

Who does Private Care Therapies work with?

PCT works with clients across many stages of life and care needs. We support older adults, athletes, busy professionals, children, individuals recovering from surgery, clients managing pain, and those seeking long-term wellness support. Each care plan is created around the client’s specific needs and goals.

How do I know which service is right for me?

You do not need to know exactly what service you need before reaching out. Our team will listen to your concerns, learn about your goals, and help determine which type of care may be the best fit. We can also help match you with the therapist whose experience and approach align with your needs.

What happens during the first appointment?

The first appointment is focused on understanding you. Your therapist will review your health history, current concerns, goals, movement patterns, daily routines, and environment. From there, they will create a personalized care plan designed to support your recovery, mobility, comfort, and long-term wellness.

Services and Conditions

What services does Private Care Therapies offer?

Private Care Therapies offers physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, neurological rehabilitation, orthopedic rehabilitation, cardiovascular and pulmonary therapy, pre- and post-surgical care, pain management, oncology and lymphedema care, athletic training, medical appointment assistance, manual muscle stretching and strengthening, wellness support, and personal training.

Do you offer physical therapy at home?

Yes. PCT provides at-home physical therapy for clients who prefer care in the comfort and privacy of their own environment. In-home care allows your therapist to understand how you move through real daily routines, including stairs, chairs, bathrooms, walking paths, and other areas that affect your mobility and independence.

What is the benefit of receiving therapy at home?

At-home therapy allows care to be more personal and practical. Your therapist can assess your actual environment and tailor treatment to your daily life. This can be especially helpful for fall prevention, post-surgical recovery, mobility challenges, busy schedules, and clients who prefer a more private care experience.

Do you offer occupational therapy?

Yes. Occupational therapy helps clients improve independence, safety, and confidence in daily activities. This may include support with home routines, mobility, adaptive strategies, energy conservation, fine motor skills, home safety, and meaningful everyday tasks.

Do you offer speech therapy?

Yes. Speech therapy can support communication, cognition, swallowing, memory, problem-solving, and daily independence. At PCT, speech therapy is personalized to each client’s needs and may be helpful after neurological changes, illness, injury, or other health concerns.

Can physical therapy help with pain management?

Yes. Physical therapy can be an important part of pain management. PCT takes a whole-person approach by looking at movement, strength, mobility, posture, soft tissue restrictions, lifestyle, and daily routines. Care may include manual therapy, strengthening, mobility work, education, and strategies to support long-term function.

Do you help clients prepare for surgery?

Yes. Pre-surgical care, sometimes called prehabilitation, can help clients build strength, improve mobility, and feel more prepared before surgery. This support may help clients better understand what to expect and enter recovery with greater confidence.

Do you provide post-surgical rehabilitation?

Yes. PCT provides post-surgical rehabilitation to support safe movement, strength, mobility, balance, and a gradual return to daily activities. Care is tailored to the client’s procedure, surgeon recommendations, comfort level, and personal goals.

Can you help with fall prevention?

Yes. Fall prevention is a key part of care for many clients, especially older adults. A therapist may assess balance, strength, walking patterns, home setup, and confidence with movement. Care may include balance training, strengthening, mobility practice, home safety recommendations, and education.

Do you provide care for older adults?

Yes. PCT provides geriatric-focused physical therapy and wellness support for older adults. Care may focus on strength, balance, mobility, fall prevention, recovery after illness or surgery, safety at home, and maintaining independence.

Do you work with athletes?

Yes. PCT supports athletes and active clients with injury recovery, strength training, mobility, performance, and return-to-sport goals. Care is tailored to the client’s sport, activity level, movement patterns, and long-term goals.

Do you offer neurological rehabilitation?

Yes. Neurological rehabilitation supports clients with conditions that affect movement, balance, coordination, strength, and function. Care is personalized and may support clients recovering from stroke, spinal cord injury, neurological disease, or other complex conditions.

Do you offer oncology and lymphedema care?

Yes. PCT offers supportive care for clients navigating cancer-related treatment effects, lymphedema, swelling, weakness, fatigue, or changes in mobility. Therapy is designed to support comfort, function, strength, and quality of life with compassion and clinical expertise.

Concierge and In-Home Care

Where do therapy sessions take place?

Sessions may take place in the client’s home, gym, workplace, assisted living setting, outdoor space, or another preferred location when appropriate. PCT also offers telehealth for clients who need virtual support.

Do I need special equipment at home?

Not always. Your therapist will bring or recommend equipment as needed. Many sessions can use simple tools, household items, or bodyweight exercises depending on your goals and care plan. If specific equipment would be helpful, your therapist will guide you.

Is in-home therapy private?

Yes. Privacy is one of the benefits of concierge care. Sessions take place in a setting chosen by the client, which allows for more focused attention and a more comfortable care experience.

How is concierge care different from clinic-based therapy?

Concierge care is more personalized, flexible, and environment-specific. Instead of receiving care in a busy clinic, clients work one-on-one with a therapist in a setting that reflects their real life. This allows therapy to be tailored to the client’s home, schedule, routines, and goals.

Can therapy happen at my gym or workplace?

Yes, when appropriate. PCT can provide care in a gym, workplace, or other preferred setting if it supports the client’s goals and care plan. This can be especially helpful for active clients, professionals, and those working toward specific functional or fitness goals.

Can family members or caregivers be involved?

Yes. Family members and caregivers can be involved when helpful and with the client’s permission. This may include education, home safety guidance, exercise support, communication strategies, or help understanding the care plan.

Telehealth

Does Private Care Therapies offer telehealth?

Yes. PCT offers telehealth for clients who need virtual support. Telehealth may be used on its own when appropriate or combined with in-person concierge care.

What is telehealth physical therapy?

Telehealth physical therapy allows clients to meet with a licensed therapist through a secure video visit. During a session, the therapist may guide exercises, review movement, answer questions, update a care plan, or provide education and support.

When is telehealth helpful?

Telehealth can be helpful during travel, illness, schedule changes, or when an in-person visit is not convenient. It can also support clients between in-person sessions by helping them stay consistent with exercises, mobility goals, and wellness routines.

Is telehealth right for every client?

Not always. Some clients need hands-on care or in-person assessment. However, telehealth can be a helpful option for many needs, including exercise guidance, mobility check-ins, education, home program updates, and wellness support. PCT will help determine whether telehealth is appropriate for your goals.

Scheduling and Care Plans

How often will I need therapy?

Frequency depends on your needs, goals, condition, and care plan. Some clients benefit from more frequent sessions during recovery. Others may need ongoing wellness support or periodic check-ins. Your therapist will recommend a plan based on what feels appropriate and sustainable.

How long are therapy sessions?

Session length may vary depending on the service, goals, and client needs. PCT’s model allows for flexibility, so care can be tailored rather than rushed. The team will discuss session options with you before beginning care. A minimum of one hour per session is required; no  time limits beyond that.

Can my care plan change over time?

Yes. Care plans should evolve as your needs change. Your therapist will monitor progress, listen to your feedback, and adjust your plan as needed. This helps care stay aligned with your goals and daily life.

What if I am not sure where to begin?

That is completely okay. Many clients reach out because they know they need support but are not sure what kind. PCT will help you talk through your concerns, understand your options, and identify the best next step.

Payment and Insurance

Does Private Care Therapies accept insurance?

Private Care Therapies is a private-pay practice. This allows our team to provide personalized care without the limits often placed by insurance coverage. Clients may contact PCT directly for current pricing, service details, and payment options.

Can I receive documentation for reimbursement?

In some cases, clients may be able to request documentation to submit to their insurance provider for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Coverage varies by plan, so clients should contact their insurance provider directly to understand their benefits.

Why choose private-pay therapy?

Private-pay therapy allows for more flexibility, privacy, and personalization. Care can be based on the client’s goals, needs, and lifestyle rather than insurance restrictions. This can allow for longer sessions, more individualized attention, and support that fits real life.
