Dr. Derek DeLuca, PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS

Dr. Derek DeLuca is a highly skilled physical therapist with advanced training in orthopedics, spine care, chronic pain, and performance-based rehabilitation. At Private Care Therapies, he brings a thoughtful, evidence-based approach focused on helping clients reduce pain, restore movement, and return to the activities that matter most to them.

Dr. DeLuca’s path into physical therapy began through his own experience with injury and recovery as a lifelong athlete. After undergoing surgery and extensive rehabilitation following a serious sports injury, he was inspired by the transformation that physical therapy can create, from limitation and frustration to strength and confidence. That experience continues to shape the empathy and motivation he brings to every client interaction.

He earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree and went on to complete an advanced Orthopedic Residency at the University of Michigan, followed by board certification as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS). Derek is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), with experience supporting collegiate, professional, and elite athletes. This unique combination of rehabilitation and performance training allows him to bridge the gap between healing and high-level function.

Clinically, Derek has developed a particular passion for working with individuals experiencing spine conditions, persistent pain, and complex orthopedic concerns. He understands that pain is rarely one-dimensional, and his approach goes beyond symptoms to address movement patterns, strength deficits, lifestyle factors, and confidence in the body. He is especially committed to helping clients who may feel stuck, discouraged, or uncertain after previous treatment experiences.

A cornerstone of Derek’s philosophy is client education and empowerment. He believes people make the best progress when they understand what is happening in their bodies and feel actively involved in their care. By taking time to explain the “why” behind treatment, he helps clients feel more confident, capable, and in control of their recovery.

In addition to orthopedic care, Derek has extensive experience providing in-home physical therapy and values the opportunity to treat clients in the environments where life actually happens.
